Kate’s experience of knee replacement surgery in India

Hello to all dear readers,

My name is Kate Williams, I am a U.K resident living in London, and I would like to share my experience of knee transplant surgery at Hyderabad in India with all of you. Two years before I was working as finance consultant in London, everything was going well with my daily routine, household affairs and official work. Then suddenly I started experiencing something wrong with my knees, the cartilage in my knee joint gradually wore away, my knee joint became inflamed and its cartilage got completely destroyed. My knee suffered pain swelling and showed a decrement in motion. I quickly approached a surgeon who detected my trouble as osteoarthritis after making a diagnosis.

I was suggested to get knee replacement surgery, but the treatment charges in U.K were too high, moreover the expenses of transplant and lodging were unaffordable in U.S.A and all over Europe. Now I started seeking the best knee transplant surgery at an affordable charge by searching medical treatment catalogues, magazines and of course on the internet, one of my office friends told me that in India medical surgeries and transplants are being provided with the best ultra modern facilities at a less charge as compared to other international rates. I came across a website of a healthcare group in India called FLY2INDIA4HEALTH, it provided information about various medical treatments. Fortunately I came in contact with a representative of that group who after knowing my case in detail offered to arrange my knee replacement surgery at Hyderabad in India which contained the arrangement of my traveling, lodging and medical treatment facilities. That kind representative took my case with due consideration and called me on phone to inform me that he had made all arrangements and I will have to come to Hyderabad after a week at the hospital that has been referred by him for me.

I reached at the airport along with my husband where that medical representative received me for my knee replacement surgery at Hyderabad in India with a warm cordial welcome and we were transferred to a luxurious hotel for lodging purpose, I liked the place too much as it had all the modern facilities with a classical outlook which gave the lodging persons a homely atmosphere, the Indian food that was served to us was really a “yummy” in taste however I had to avoid taking oily and spicy Indian dishes as recommended by the medical representative who was famous by the nickname “healthguru”. The group also provided me with a pre-activated cell phone facility which the medical representative kept a constant contact taking information about my medical treatment progress. The hospital where I was about to be medically operated was not too far, the doctors and including the entire staff were fluent and efficient at spoken English such that I was easily able to converse with them, all of them responded to me in a friendly manner during the entire process of the medical knee transplant. During the treatment the doctors took a physical examination of my case by developing an x-ray film of my knee, they bended my leg and tried to rotate it in rightward as well as leftward direction, occasionally the doctors used arthroscopy to diagnose Osteoarthritis.

When a knee replacement was performed, the bone and cartilage on the end of the thigh bone and top of the shin bone were removed. This was performed using precise instruments to create surfaces that can accommodate the implant perfectly. A metal and plastic knee replacement implant was then placed in to function as a new knee joint. Depending on the condition of the cartilage underneath the kneecap, the kneecap surface was also replaced. I was provided with a meniscus transplant surgery, which included the placement of a knee cartilage from a cadaver donor, after the transplant I was recommended to take a continuous rest for fifteen days, thereafter the physicians encouraged me to undertake  nominal simple exercises like making a slow rotatory motion of the transplanted knee, walking etc. Knee replacement surgery was very successful, but the success of the procedure was partly due to the rehabilitation period that follows the surgery. For patients to expect a good result from knee replacement surgery, they must be an active rehab participant. Rehabilitation after knee replacement begun immediately. I worked with a physical therapist as soon as the surgical procedure had been performed. The emphasis in the early stages of rehab was to maintain motion of the knee replacement and to ensure that that I can walk safely. The body reacts to surgery by making scar tissue, and patients may never recover normal motion if they do not focus on bending and straightening their knee replacement.

After having undergone the medical transplant I was transferred for enjoying a holiday trip. I was made to lodge at a lovely hotel resort arranged by the medical group where the “healthguru” also made a visit to me two times during the pleasant one week holiday and wished me his cordial best regards for getting a speedy recovery and that worked a lot indeed as I was able to walk comfortably and normally without the slightest pain sensation and this indeed seemed a miracle to me. I realized that Indian medical treatment is so effective because it also uses love, friendly behavior and true feelings of hospitality to every patient as a healing medicine apart from using modern treatment techniques. I returned back after enjoying the holidays where the arrangements for my return journey by air had already been arranged in advance by the medical healthcare group and its representatives came to bade me a warm cordial goodbye at the airport. After sincerely thanking them I flew back to London to resume back into my daily routine life, now all is going on very well but I keep on narrating my unique, pleasant experience of knee replacement surgery at Hyderabad in India cum holiday trip to my friends and relatives. Moreover I shall always remain obliged and grateful to the representatives of that group in helping to solve my medical problem in a manner that makes me feel that I didn’t go any painful surgery rather coming to India was a pleasant holiday trip for me. I would highly recommend all national and international patients to approach this group just like I did for my knee replacement surgery at Hyderabad in India.
